Firefighters tackling a fire with foam

June 10, 2026

Every year, during holidays and celebrations, fireworks cause burns, eye injuries, amputations and fires in homes, forests and fields. The Civil Defence urges citizens not to use them.

  • Do not allow children to handle or light fireworks
  • Never light fireworks indoors, on balconies, near dry grass or near fuel and gas cylinders
  • Never try to relight a firework that did not go off — soak it in water
  • Keep a bucket of water or an extinguisher nearby
  • Never point fireworks at people, vehicles or buildings

Celebratory gunfire is also extremely dangerous: falling bullets kill and injure innocent people every year.

If someone is burned

  • Cool the burn under clean running water for at least 10 minutes
  • Do not apply ice, toothpaste or oils
  • Cover loosely with a clean cloth and call 125

In any emergency, call 125 — free, from any phone, 24 hours a day.
