The Media and Public Relations Department of the General Directorate of Civil Defence issued the following statement:
Lebanese Civil Defence teams, with crews from several centres, extinguished a number of fires that broke out in different areas.
In the Bekaa, teams put out forest fires in Maksi, Mreijat, Jdita and Qab Elias. While fighting the fire in Maksi, they rescued three women and moved them to a safe place after their home was filled with thick smoke from the fire.
Teams also extinguished a fire on Mount Joub Jannine in the West Bekaa district, as well as forest fires on the Deir El Mokhalles – Bisri road and in Mazraat El Daher and Zaarouriyeh in the Chouf district.
In all these missions, the teams contained the flames, brought them under control and prevented them from spreading to neighbouring areas, and continue to monitor the sites to prevent flare-ups.
