Very high temperatures put older people, young children, people with chronic illness and outdoor workers at particular risk. Heat also dries vegetation and raises the danger of fires.
- Drink water regularly, even if you are not thirsty
- Avoid going out between 11 am and 4 pm
- Never leave children or animals in a parked car
- Check on elderly neighbours and relatives
- Do not light fires outdoors and report any smoke immediately on 125
Signs of heat stroke include confusion, very high body temperature and fainting. Move the person to a cool place, cool them with water and call for help.
